Margaret Sloss Women's Center Scholarships

The Margaret Sloss Women's Center administers four scholarships for adult or non-traditional students. If you meet the requirements and would like to apply, application forms and additional information can be found on this page. 

The scholarship recipients for 2013-2014 academic year have been selected and notififed. Applications for 2014-2015 scholarships will be made available November 1, 2013. DEADLINE for all scholarships is February 10, 2014 by 11:59 P.M. 

 

Adult Student Scholarship Fund

The Adult Student Scholarship Fund provides adult students at Iowa State with scholarships designed to cover the cost of books and supplies for one semester. Students will not be awarded two consecutive semesters. The scholarship will be awarded through the Office of Student Financial Aid.

Requirements:

  • 24 years of age or older by the deadline of the application period
  • Did not enter Iowa State University directly from high school
  • Is responsible for dependents other than a spouse
  • Part-time, graduate and international students who meet the criteria are eligible
  • Minimum GPA of 2.0
  • Submit complete application packet - see checklist in application form

Division of Student Affairs Adult Student Scholarship

Awarded $1,000 each academic year and is renewable for up to four years.

Requirements:

  • Undergraduate student status -- full or part-time
  • Must be 25 years or older
  • Must demonstrate financial need
  • First preference shall will be given to single Mothers
  • Second preference shall be given to applicants who demonstrate high financial need, as determined by the awarding authority
  • Minimum GPA of 2.0

The Lee Hadley Scholarship

Created to honor Lee Hadley, a positive force in the lives of students and in the English Department at Iowa State University for 26 years! This $1,000-$1,500 scholarship can be renewed upon selection committee approval for four years as the student maintains full-time enrollment and satisfactory progress towards earning their degree. The Lee Hadley Scholarship was also created to motivate and reward adult students striving to reach their dreams!

Requirements:

  • Iowa resident
  • Financial Need, as determined by the funding authority
  • Minimum GPA of 2.0
  • Full-time undergraduate student
  • Single Parent
  • Non-traditional student (23 years and older)
  • Submit complete application packet - see checklist in application form

Preference will be given to applicants in the following order:

  • Any major with a creative writing component and/or are
  • Minority student, as defined by the University policy and/or are
  • First-generation college student, as determined by the administering authority

The Rosenthal Scholarship

Created to motivate and reward women striving to reach their dreams! Awarded $1,500

Requirements:

  • Female
  • Iowa resident
  • Single Parent
  • Financial Need, as determined by the funding authority
  • Minimum GPA of 2.0
  • Full-time undergraduate student
  • Non-traditional student (23 years and older)
  • Submit complete application packet - see checklist in application form

Preference will be given to applicants in the following order:

  • A first generation college student
  • Student of an ethnic minority
